The rare earth permanent magnet multi-wire cutting machine independently developed by the Chinese company wins the 2018 China excellent industrial design award. Multi wire cutting technology is a new cutting method which cuts hard and brittle materials into hundreds of thin sheets at the same time through the high-speed reciprocating motion of steel wire. Rare earth magnet materials are compounds composed of rare earth elements and transition metals such as Fe, Co, Cu, Zr or non-metallic elements such as B, C, N, etc., which are widely used in many fields, such as permanent magnet motor, automobile, electronics, cell phone, aviation, aerospace and military industry. Especially in the field of new energy vehicles and permanent magnet motors the arc shaped rare earth magnets are previously produced by WEDM (wire electrical discharge machining) whose cutting efficiency is low. This diamond wire multi wire cutting technology can meet the technical requirements of both cutting straight and arc pieces at the same time. It can process 200-300 wires at the same time and greatly improve the cutting efficiency. Its processing efficiency exceeds 100-150 WEDM machines, and the surface finish and dimensional accuracy is improved.
